Earlier this week I was lucky enough to have dinner with my daughter and two of her friends. My daughter became friends with these girls in middle school. After graduation they each went to different colleges, made new friends, graduated and then had the chance to reconnect when they all moved to "the big city". It was so much fun to have dinner with these three and catch up with my daughter's friends.
I miss the days when they would all hang out at my house. As a mom, there's nothing better than hearing young teenage girls giggle and talk and plan for the future.
When they were younger . . .
. . . we watched countless episodes of America's Next Top Model
. . . we went shopping
. . . we ate dinner together, at home and away from home
. . . we spent lots of time in the car
. . . we talked about what they wanted to do when they grew up
. . . we went on vacation
And, as they got older . . .
. . . I watched them go to Prom
. . . I cheered for them at sporting events
. . . I worried as they drove off to go shopping
. . . I celebrated their high school graduation
. . . I saw them growing up right before my eyes
. . . I hugged them and said goodbye as they went off to college
So many memories and good times. Now they are young women, and it's hard to believe that it's been seven years since they graduated from high school and went out into the world. I'm glad that they are still such good friends and that they don't mind including MOM every once in a while.
I'm proud of them for all they have accomplished and I'm excited for things yet to come.
Yep, they are all grown up, but they are still "my girls".
