If you've been reading my blog for a while you know that I'm a Springsteen fan and that on November 12, 2012 I got to see him up close and personal. If this is news to you check out this post.
One of my goals for JANUARY was to get started on an album about that night. So far I have ordered and received photos, selected an album and spent some time thinking about how I plan to include the photos and memorbilia into the album.
Choosing the album was the EASY part. I found an 8"x8" album that came with divided page protectors and loved it immediately. I also found these cool Thickers that I thought would be perfect for this project.
The hardest part was ordering the photos. The album has page protectors with room for photos in the following sizes: 8" x 8", 4"x4" (4 to a page), and 4"x6". I know from past projects that for me it works better to order photos 4"x6" and then trim them to 4"x4", because if you order 4"x4" photos it just shrinks the whole photo, when what you really want to do is crop the photo to get rid of background "stuff". But, once again I ordered many of the photos in both sizes just to be safe. As I looked through the photos I realized that I definitely want to crop the 4"x6" photos, so maybe next time I'll trust my instincts. Anyway.
Once the photos arrived I spread them all out and tried to come up with an order that made sense to me. Because the album has binder rings I can open it up and move pages around as I go. As you can see in this photo on the left is an 8"x8" page and on the right there is room for two 4"x6" vertical photos and a 2'x8" strip along the top that will work perfectly to hold some memorbilia, like my concert ticket.
On the left is the back side of the previous page, and on the right is a page with room for four 4"x4" photos. So far I've just slid the photos into their location but I'll probably add some embellishments to them as well.
This shows two back to back pages that hold two vertical 4"x6" photos with a 2"x8" strip across the top. I can tell that the page on my left is going to be one of my favorites, not because it's a great photo of my sister-in-law or me, but because I can TOTALLY remember the excitement we were feeling when we took the photo. I slid a journaling card into one of the pockets which I plan to back with cardstock.
So, it's a beginning. I have lots of work to do but it's one of those projects that is just plain FUN to work on because it was such an awesome night. I'll share more photos as I continue to work on the project.
