Last Saturday was a rainy day so rather than mowing my lawn I was able to spend a good portion of the day doing craft projects.
When I woke up and saw what kind of day it would be I quickly did my chores (balancing my checkbook, paying bills, organizing laundry, etc.) and while I was doing those things I was trying to decide what project I should start - or finish. I decided I should start working on graduation cards so I had some on hand because I usually get requests for cards and it seems like I never have them ready.
Then the doorbell rang and my day took a dramatic turn. The postman delived a package from Persnickety Prints and contained tons of photos from my recent vacation to Mexico. Suddenly graduation cards were on the back burner and scrapbooking became my project for the day.
I had already planned to use an album and page protectors from We-R-Memories so I was ready to get started as soon as I sorted through all of my prints.
The page protectors included both 12 x 12 pages and pages with pockets in a variety of other sizes. I went through my photos and laid them out on the living room floor as I decided which photos would go in each protector.
The first page in the album is a divided protector with room at the top for a 4 x 12 photo and 4-4 x 6 photos below that. For the top slot I used a photo that I took of a building on the Malecon that had "2012" in huge numbers on the roof. I thought that would be great for the first page so that if I include additional years in this album this will clearly indicate the year of this trip. Right below the large photo I included a photo of military troops we saw along the road with a portion of my boarding pass attached with stitching. Next to that is a journaling block with some introductory information about the trip. Below that are two more photos that i took on the beach. I took these two photos individually so I was surprised that they lined up almost as if it was one long photo that I cut in half. I attached a strip of patterned paper on one photo with a flair button as an accent.
This page has the same page protector design as the last page. Since I didn't have a 4"x12" photo for the top slot I cut a piece of patterned paper to use as a photo/journaling block and then attached a journaling block of typed print on white paper. I cut part of an extra photo (sky & palm tree) and attached it to the journaling block. I attached a photo next to the journaling block to complete that portion of the page protector. Below that are four miscellaneous photos from the trip.
This page isn't complete but it's already one of my favorites! This page ptorector has 9-3"x4" pockets; I included 8 photos of sand sculptures and other sights we saw along the Malecon and left the center square for journaling, which I haven't completed yet.
This page has a top pocket that is 6" x 12" but the photo I wanted to use was 4" x 12" so I again used a piece of patterned paper as the background. These photos were taken at a restaurant/bar where we spent a lot of time because it was just two doors down from our hotel, and the margaritas were really good! I cut the title out using my Cricut and I planned to use the letters I cut but then I decided that the piece of paper that had the letters cut out looked kind of cool, so I used that instead. I have since noticed that I called it the Mexican Grill when in reality it was called the Margarita Grill, so I think I'll have to fix that or it will always bother me. I'm going to add some journaling blocks for each of the three photos on the bottom.
I have a long way to go on this album but it's off to a good start and I love it already! I'll share more as I complete additional pages.
If you have any questions about the supplies I'm using or the process feel free to leave a comment here.
