Now that we are well into FALL I thought I should take a few minutes to see how many of my summer goals I accomplished. The original goal is shown below in bold.
Read books. I'm going to set a goal of reading at least four books by August 31st. I'll share the book title and my review of the book as I complete each one. Hmmm, I don't think I read four books. In fact, I can only think of one book that I read this summer, which I talked about here.
Take advantage of the local Farmer's Market to stock up on fruits & vegetables every week. I can't say that I went to the Farmer's Market every week, but I did go often and will continue through the fall. I bought lots of great vegetables (especially onions & peppers) and even some salsa.
Eat lunch outside on the weekends. Again, I didn't eat outside every weekend but I did several times. I'm kind of picky about the weather - if it's windy or incredibly humid I'm not very likely to take my lunch outside. BUT, on nice days I certainly did.
Use my grill at least once a week. Yes, this is a goal that I whole heartedly met. Many weekends I grilled two days in a row. My favorite things to grill are pork chops, steaks and vegetables. I'm not a pro, but I learn more every time I light the grill.
Host an outdoor dinner party, complete with cute patio lights. Oh man, I really wanted this to happen. Unfortunately my patio wasn't done until late August and I still I don't have any patio furniture. This will definitely happen next summer and I can't wait.
Brainstorm new shop ideas; design, determine pricing and set schedule. Well, no. I've spent a lot of time thinking about my shop and some new ideas, but to be honest I haven't spent any time in my craft room all summer. Maybe now that the weather is turning colder will actually get to crafting.
Create a foundation for the 2014 Week in the Life documentation (which will take place in September). Locate album, determine color scheme, find paper and embellishments, etc. I have an album ready and I've done some thinking about this project. Ali Edwards, who came up with this idea, moved the project to later in the fall so I still have time to get this done. And I will.
Spend time at the lake. Major Fail. The weather this summer was not really conducent to lake time - at all. I went to the lake and floated one afternoon and I went on two pontoon rides, but that was it.
Continue my goal to walk Two Miles a Day. Yes, for the most part. I'm planning a separate post on this topic, so stay tuned.
Take random days off work to enjoy the beautiful weather. Again, the weather this summer didn't call for lots of days off, but I did sneak in a few. Rather than taking whole days off, instead I left work a few hours early several times.
It was fun to set goals for the summer and even though I didn't complete all of them having them on a list definitely kept them top of mind. I definitely plan to set summer goals again next year . . . I've already started the list in my mind. Thanks for following along!
