FORTY-ONE OF FIFTY-TWO: a puzzle.
I love working on puzzles. I think it's a great challenge to complete a puzzle and I find it very relaxing.
My favorite size of puzzle is 1,000 pieces. Anything less seems "too easy" and anything bigger is a bit overwhelming. 1,000 pieces fits nicely on my card table, which I usually set up in the living room when I'm working on a puzzle.
The best part of a puzzle is finishing it, of course. But the second best part is starting it! I always lay out all of the pieces and then start on the outsize, working to complete the border first. Next I move on to the inside pieces, carefully studying the photo on the box to figure out what goes where.
When I have a puzzle going I can't help but look for "just one more piece" every time I walk by.
I have a tradition of starting a puzzle on New Year's Eve. I like to watch the NYE specials on TV and enjoy a glass of wine while I get everything set up. Sometimes I'll finish one puzzle and immediately start another, but other times I get a puzzle done and then I'm good for a while.
A puzzle. It's one of the things I love.
