I have a bookshelf in a spare bedroom that holds some old favorite books that I've already read as well as books I want to read. Over the past few months I've gotten a few books that I really, really want to read so I started stacking them on my piano bench in the living room, right in plain site. I thought that would get me reading but it hasn't happened yet. These books made the "read me now" stack for a variety of reasons.
Starting at the bottom is Mocking Jay, the third and final book in the Hunger Games series. I read books 1 & 2 in one weekend over the summer. I enjoyed them, but by the end of book #2 I was kind of burnt out and decided to read something else before moving on to book #3. I still haven't started it!
Next is Fly Away Home by Jennifer Wiener. I bought this book because I follow her on Twitter and she cracks me up - especially when she writes about shows like The Bachelor. I figured if I like her tweets I'd probably like her books too and wanted to give one a try.
Next is Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich. I've read all of her books, which go in numerical order, and as much as I loved the first several books I feel like the writing isn't as good as it used to be. I started this book when I went to Florida last summer and I've just not been motivated to go back to it. It's very rare for me to "quit" a book but that may happen with this one.
Next in the stack is The Light Between Oceans. I bought this book based on a review I read online. I think it will be my book club choice when it's my turn to pick the book in a few months.
Tallgrass is our March book club choice. Our meeting is on March 10th so I'll need to read that one soon.
I received Fifty Shades of Grey for my birthday earlier this month and my niece is dying for me to read it. She has the other two books in the series and said I could borrow them once I finish this first book.
The Shadow of the Wind was loaned to me by a coworker who said I HAVE TO READ IT! I did start it and I'm excited to get back to it based on her rave reviews.
I love to read and can't believe I didn't do any reading all month, but I did have a busy month and it was a short one! I hope that March is a bit slower paced so I can catch up on my reading.
Tomorrow I'll a "the one about" story here and then on Sunday I'll do a February Goal Wrap-up.
Let's do this!
