I've mentioned before that I have belonged to a book club since 1998. 1998 people! If you click on the "books" photo on the right hand side of this blog you can get a list of the books we've read, along with the rating our club gave each book.
This year I'm starting a monthly feature called, "what I read". I hope that I read more books than our monthly book club choice, but if not I should still read one book per month.
I only read one book in January and it won't go on my "favorites" list. The book was Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah and it was a story about family and the secrets they keep. Personally, I found the book rather depressing. I am happy to say that I couldn't relate at allto the story, and I didn't find it that believable, but that's just my opinion.
I was definitely alone in my opinion when our book club met to discuss the book. There were six out of seven members in attendance, and they all loved the book. We rate our books from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest rating. Everyone gave the book a 4 or 4.5 except me. I rated the book a 3 and I really would have given it a 2 but at that point it didn't matter too much since we take an average of all of the ratings.
I would recommend that you take the time to read it if you are looking for a book that is quite popular. Sometimes when a person reads a book they just aren't "in the mood" or something, and clearly my opinion was in the minority.
If you have read the book, or if you read it at a later date, I'd love to hear from you. Did you like it? What would you rate it, 1 to 5?
