Last week I was super excited when I recieved a box from Persnickety Prints full of PHOTOS from my trip to Alaska. I opened the box and saw these great photos along with a cute little thank you card from PP that included a DISCOUNT off my next order. Did I mention how much I love PP? Yes I did, you can read about it here.
I got this green FELT album from Making Memories for this project. I love the look and feel of this album! I made a title block following the rules I had for this entire album - CLEAN and SIMPLE. I wanted to really focus on the photos and not add a lot of "stuff". I had all of the photos printed 5" x 7" and many of them are "people" photos because the focus of the trip was FAMILY.
For the inside title page I used map paper from October Afternoon and highlighted the state of ALASKA by adding a frame around it. I also added metal thickers from American Crafts for the year. I was kind of disappointed that the "1" was so much larger than the "2" and the "0".
CIRCLES were a theme for this album. I pulled out a bunch of embellishments and layed them out on my workspace and then just pulled from those items to decorate each page. On this page I used a chipboard tag and attached a photo of the baby onto the tag so that it's raised up a bit from the rest of the page.
I used the same thickers on a few of the pages and I used some WASHI tape too. I wish I had a nice selection of washi tape; in this case I actually reused a few pieces that came on a package from an Etsy shop. I used tags and ribbon often in this album and rather than tying knots (which can make the pages thick) I stapled the ribbon onto each tag.
I used lots of FLAIR buttons in this album too, and on this page I used some vintage stamps as an accent on a tag. You can also see that I used kraft paper as the background for every page (20 pages total; 40 counting front and back). Repetition is key when you are working on a CLEAN and SIMPLE mini album that you want to complete quickly.
The oval tag used on this page is one that I've had for a long time so it was nice to finally put it to use. I cut the stars out using my Cricut. The tag was cut from paper by October Afternoon - more REPETITION. Since the baby's name is Rylan I specifically cut around the portion of the paper with a large "R".
For each page in the album I printed right on the kraft paper which went along with the CLEAN and SIMPLE look. I used two fonts for the journaling - Cambria and Ali Edwards handwriting - and combined them to add some interest. This page didn't need many embellishments to make it cute - how CUTE is that puppy? I just added a little tag from my stash along with two shapes cut using my Cricut.
This page was again, CLEAN and SIMPLE. I did a bit of journaling and added a piece of tape from Summersville on Etsy.
The ALBUM is fairly thick but not overly full. I have some additional photos that I'm planning to print as photo grids (4 or 6 per page) that I will add to the album, but it's nice to have the majority of the book done. I'm not a FAST scrapbooker by any means, but keeping the album CLEAN and SIMPLE allowed me to complete this whole mini album in one weekend.
