One of my 2012 goals is to read and review twelve books. I love to read and I think this goal is totally do-able, but we'll see as the year progresses.
I decided to create a mini album to document this goal because I think it will be a nice way to store my thoughts about each book. I also plan to blog about each book once I've read it and it's very possible that the words from my blog will end up in this album.
For the cover of the album I chose a post card from a boxed set of Penguin book cover postcards. I bought this set of 100 book covers from Amazon.com and I just love it. There were several that would have been a good fit for this project but "Chosen Words" was my favorite; I loved the stack of books pictured on the post card.
I used a variety of patterned paper to make the 12 pages in the album, and I backed each one with patterned paper that either had notebook paper lines or graph paper lines. I chose the lined paper because I thought it would work well to write on. I plan to include some of my own handwriting in this album but I might include some typed words as well.
Initially I planned to add some embellishments to each of the pages in advance but then I thought it might be more interesting to do each month as I read the book. I don't plan to do themed pages that match the book, but I'm open to anything. I'd like this to be a fun, creative activity so I don't want to make any rules at this point.
Each month I'll share my book review and the corresponding pages I created for this album. I'm reading the first book now and I can't wait to share my thoughts with you. As a reminder, the first book is Room by Emma Donoghue.
